"I do not hesitate in naming this the most exciting work of art I have seen for a long time. It is epistemologically new, and it induces curiosity, sensuality and giddiness."
- Janus Kodal, Politiken, den 6. marts 2002
"It is completely overwhelming to step into the big room of Kanonhallen and experience the universe of the Polish girl Nika in Signa Sørensen's 'Konwaliowa Cutie Doll', a mixture between installation and performance."
- Vibeke Wern, Berlingske Tidende, den 9. marts 2002
Time: 4/3 and 5/3, 2002 Place: Kanonhallen (now K2), Øster Fælled Torv 37, Copenhagen Duration: 2 x 2 hours Number of performers: 7 Resumé: Konwaliowa Cutie Doll was the third part of the project Twin Life, which started in September 2001 in Vendersgade, Copenhagen.
In Konwaliowa Cutie Doll the spectators were invited to move through a sort of memorial park of Nika's life where her past and present merged and drew in the audience. Among others the different zones were: the kitchen in which Nika´s mother was cooking, the livingroom, the bathroom, her childhood street in Warsaw and the back of her father´s butcher shop.
Konwaliowa Cutie Doll was a condensation of Nika's memories of a past and a family from which she had detached herself. She now existed in an emotional vacuum, still hospitalised and drifting in and out of consciousness. In this flickering between nightmare and brutal awakening, the audience was free to move through the installation, explore the room with all its fragments such as letters, photos and personal objects and meet and talk with Nika and some of her loved ones.
