"Just as you are seated there in the trailer, touching glasses, listening and telling stories, the line between poetry and reality disappears. One is deeply moved by that easily recognizable longing between man and woman, which 'Night Finder' revolves around. This made one of the guests suggest that the place should be called "The Square of Longing". All in all a surprisingly good suggestion, not just for theatre - but for city renewal."
- Monna Dithmer, Politiken, April 15th 2003
"...a magic, whodunit kind of a game that unites the madonna/whore-myth with the dream of being a white bride… There is no doubt that in terms of form, Signa Sørensen's 'Nightfinder' is the most daring and fascinating work on the festival so far."
- Vibeke Wern, Berlingske Tidende, April 4th 2003
Time: 3/4 – 8/4, 2003
Place: Øster Fælled Torv (the public square outside Kanonhallen), Copenhagen. The project was part of the Junge Hunde Festival
Duration: 6 days nonstop (150 hours)
Number of performers: 4 (+ 5 extras)
Resumé: Night Finder was Signa Sørensen's first project following the Twin Life series. The ambition was to explore new possibilities of her performance installations.
The installation was placed in a public square and was the first of a series of nomadic installation projects inside and around caravans. In a sort of modern cult place, the actors pieced together their own personal magic through detached and improvised rituals. The work was exploring and transcending various female stereotypes and disguises, and testing their potential for magic. The visitors could meet a dead prostitute, a waiting bride, a murderess and a heroine who each waited for a sign or a messenger that maybe never came.
Night Finder went on for six days, and the audience could visit the camp both night and day. Through surveillance cameras the performers could also be watched from the foyer of Kanonhallen.
