Frank joined SIGNA in 2004 for 57 Beds in the role of Frank Singer and since then has created over a dozen characters in his decade of performing with, and forming a familial bond to SIGNA. He has taken part in more of our shows than any other actor and his work was always astonishing. Like himself, his characters were captivating and intense - from merciless pimps to ethereal Gamemasters, infirmed psychiatric patients to meniacal libertines - to his last role as the dedicated and faithful accused Karl Block in Die Hundsprozesse. Frank was a feverish performer - his research was extensive, his character ticks and secrets bountiful, his passion for embodying truth within fiction contagious.
He was, when he decided so, a force to be reckoned with. SIGNA is not the same without him.

Frank "Hobbit" Bätge was born on 10th of July 1961 and died on 12th of March 2013. His ashes were spread in the ocean.

Words for his remembrance:

As an actor in three of the projects that Frank was staring, my perception of him is overly positive - regarding his qualities as an artist but even more as the extraordinary human being he was.

Besides continuously delivering some of the most solid performances in the SIGNA universe (which made it easier for those surrounding him to also shine), he also showed a remarkable talent for spotting and attending the insecure (or less experienced) SIGNA-actors, and make them feel at home in the gigantic settings. He always found an excuse for his character to take care of his peers, if needed, even if they were his "fictional enemies".

Hobbit, your presence and performance in The Black Rose Trick (2005), Seven Tales of Misery (2006), and Night at the Hospital (2007) made sure, that my personal experience with SIGNA still resides as some of the greatest experiences in my life. Its been a blast!

Thank you for being there and thank you for being you!

I remember him very well.
I have only been in the audience of this one SIGNA production HUNDSTAGE in cologne.
as he was the husband of apolina block, a german actress from cologne theatre in HUNDSTAGE, I really have some memories about him, his character.

may his soul be in peace

Frank Bätge was amazing and so intence on the stage, and a really cool & nice guy in private.
Very sad to see you go so soon.

I will never forget you.

(This song will always be yours, dear Hobbit. You are remembered with respect, love and a lot of joy!)

Have seen Hobbit in a dream tonight. It was great to give him a big hug and feel his honest, warm and strong response( as always), while knowing that it's impossible to do it in this layer of reality. He is alive.

I love you, Gamemaster. The first time we met, I asked if you remembered Betlehem. You replied "very well; I was there". See ya the next time around!
