Konwaliowa Cutie Doll (2002)

Konwaliowa Cutie Doll was the third installation of the Twin Life Project. The spectators were invited to move through a memorium of Nika's personal history, immersed at the intersection of her past and present. Now existing in an emotional vacuum, hospitalized and drifting in and out of consciousness, Nika flickered between nightmares and brutal awakening surrounded by images and people from her life: her mother cooking in her childhood kitchen, her childhood street in Warsaw, and the back of her father´s butcher shop. Konwaliowa Cutie Doll represented the condensation of scattered memories from Nika’s discarded past. The audience moved freely through the installation, exploring the room and all its evidence of her history; they also had the opportunity to meet with Nika and some of her loved ones.

Time: 4th and 5th of March, 2002, two hours each day
Place: Kanonhallen, Øster Fælled Torv 37, Copenhagen, Denmark

Press Quotes:

"I do not hesitate in naming this the most exciting work of art I have seen for a long time. It is epistemologically new, and it induces curiosity, sensuality and giddiness."
- Janus Kodal, Politiken

"It is completely overwhelming to step into the big room of Kanonhallen and experience the universe of the Polish girl Nika in Signa Sørensen's 'Konwaliowa Cutie Doll', a mixture between installation and performance."
- Vibeke Wern, Berlingske Tidende
